How to be Productive whilst Working from Home During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Lucy Lyle, Perch’s co-founder, is quoted as saying  “Your workspace at home should be designed for three things: focus, organization, and aesthetics.” Lucy Lyle continued, “Eliminate distractions, make sure everything you need is easy to find, and don’t be afraid to pick furnishings that look beautiful. You’ll be happier at work that way.”

Remote working environments are still new to many people, and employees must find a good work-life balance. Following the advice of Lucy Lyle, it may take a while to get used to the home office, but here are some of her tips to try.

Firstly, it is a good idea to clear and clean your workstation and ensure that all clutter is packed away, which will eliminate all distractions. Wipe down your desk daily with a damp cloth to keep it pristine, which will enhance your overall mood and mental well-being.

Often, it is easy to get involved in work, and because there aren’t the usual distractions of co-workers or meetings, one tends to sit for long periods without leaving the desk. It is suggested that you take exercise breaks. Lucy Lyle said, ‘I always try to stay active. The healthier you are, the more energy you’ll have at work.’ While you shouldn’t do anything too intense that will leave you exhausted before you start working, breaking a sweat before work will lengthen your life and give you a boost to start your day.’

During a long stint at your desk, it would be a good idea to get up and take a short break. This will help to keep blood circulation and give your eyes a chance to adjust from the screen. A short break can mean getting up to stretch or get a glass of water.”
